Good things come in small packages...

...and we believe that to be especially true about small groups at Calumet Street. If you're thinking about joining a small group, there's a variety available of different types. Plug in to an existing group, or others can be started as the need and opportunity arises. For general questions about any of these groups, just call the church at 533-4421, or contact Jerry Nitz at 532-3543.

Sunday morning Bible study

A "Sunday School" class is much more than just a Bible lesson. Our Sunday morning Bible study classes offer time and opportunity to connect with each other on a more personal level. Victories, as well as concerns of the week, are often shared, allowing opportunity for celebration, encouragement, and prayer. Bible study is at 9:00a each Sunday.

Sunday evening Bible study

Sunday evenings bring an adult prayer and Bible study time in the Chapel from 6:00p to 7:00p during the school year. The group takes a summer break along with the youth groups. Pastor John Willis leads this group.

Home Bible fellowship

This type of small group generally meets at a member's home and offers a special time of Christian fellowship, study, and prayer. Because of the setting, the group is typically no larger than 12-15 people. Meetings are usually about an hour and groups meet about twice a month. This is entirely up to the members of the specific group.

We currently have five home Bible fellowship groups, identified by their facilitators:

Blair - This group meets at the church every other Friday evening at 7:00p.

Sanders - Meets alternately at the homes of Harvey and Jill Coe and Al and Linda Pflasterer on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00p.

Eyre - This group gathers at the Wes and Elisha Monken home on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 6:30p to 8:00p.

Nitz/Richie - Meets alternately at the homes of Jerry and Lyndole Nitz and Joe and Kathy Ritchie on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00p.

Crane - Meets alternately at the homes of Tom and Joan Weakly and Bernard and Leona West on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 7:00p to 8:30p.

Service

A service group is designed to act as the heart and hands of God in meeting certain physical needs of others in both the church family and the community. This group offers an opportunity to enjoy a great time of Christian fellowship, while expressing God’s love to others in the community and church in a very tangible manner.

Scrapbooking

If you'd like to scrapbook but would appreciate a regimen to help you actually do it, this might be just what you're looking for. This group meets at the Treasured Memories scrapbook store on Tuesday evenings. Barb Lorenzini begins each meeting with a devotion and prayer time. This is followed by some great time of fellowship while scrapbooking with friends. This is a great way to introduce some of your non-church friends to your Christian friends!

Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF)

If you desire the blessing you can receive by being with other Christian women, we have two CWF groups that meet once a month. Both groups meet the on the second Tuesday of the month, one in the morning from 9:30a to 11:00a, and one in the evening from 6:00p to 7:30p. Not only do the ladies in these groups enjoy one another’s fellowship, they work together on various projects designed to bless others.

Moms Flying Solo

Joan Weakly leads this group of single moms each Sunday evening from 6:00p to 7:00p. This lets the moms join together at the same time their children are in youth groups. Child care is provided for all age groups.

Senior Saints

Although the term "senior" is relative, our Senior Saints group is primarily made up of those who are nearing, or have reached, retirement age. This group gathers the on the first and third Wednesdays of each month for a special time of Christian fellowship...always involving a meal out. Meeting times, travel distances, and fellowship durations vary.
